A. — 1. PHOT. Relatif au procédé photographique appelé trichromie. Filtre, impression, procédé, sélection trichrome. Faire une sélection trichrome, c'est (...) établir trois négatifs d'un sujet polychrome derrière trois filtres vert, bleu-violet et rouge-orangé, qui sélectionnent le rouge-magenta, le jaune et le bleu-vert. Sur chacun des positifs, on obtiendra des gris d'autant plus foncés qu'ils correspondent à des parties plus denses de la couleur sélectionnée par le filtre complémentaire (PRINET, Phot., 1945, p. 70).
2. TÉLÉV. Relatif à un système à trois couleurs. Il existe en télévision deux types de tubes trichromes: le premier utilise trois canons à électrons attaquant sous des angles différents un écran composé de trois phosphores de couleurs différentes, avec un masque prévu pour chaque angle. Le second ne possède qu'un canon à électron, et le faisceau électronique subit une déviation supplémentaire (Électron. 1963-64).
B. — PHYS. Synthèse trichrome. ,,Possibilité fréquente d'équilibrer photométriquement et colorimétriquement pour l'œil un flux lumineux quelconque par la somme de trois flux R, G, B de couleurs choisies comme fondamentales`` (MATHIEU-KASTLER Phys. 1983).
